Don't waste your time trying to grow avocado from the seed with the toothpick method. I have tried for years to grow avocado this method and others. Now, the last 3 avocado seeds have grown by just planting the seed in soil. Easy peasy!
Note: it takes 2-3 months for this method to work, but it is SO worth it!
